Betty Stiles

Office Administrator

Betty has served the past 5 pastors of Church of the Highlands.  Before serving as an office admnistrator for the Pastor she served in the Bible and Christian Ministries Department Secretary for Tennessee Temple University.  Betty is married to Dr. Roger Stiles.  They have three children who are married and have 7 grandchildren 3 great grandchildren!

Worship Leader

Matt Edwards serves in directing our musical worship at Church of the Highlands.  He is married to Andrea and they have one son.

Sarah Pearson

Praise Ensemble Director

Sarah Pearson serves as the Director of our Praise Ensemble.  She received her Bachelor of Music Performance at Tennessee Temple University, and her dual Masters Degree in Instrumental Conducting and Music Education at Lee University School of Music. She  Pearson currently serves as the Music Director/Conductor and Founder for The Cleveland Orchestra and Chorus of Tennessee, Music Director and Conductor for The Cleveland Pops, Assistant Conductor for Symphony of Northwest Arkansas (SoNA), Pearson is an active champion for the arts in education, who serves as a teacher, guest lecturer, and adjudicator valuing the impact it holds towards the future generations.

Scott Montgomery

Maintenance & Grounds

Scott Montgomery  serves in the areas of maintence on the buildings and caring for our COH campus.  He attended Tennessee Temple University and has served at TTU and HPBC campus for many years as well as serving at The McCallie School for several years.  He is married to Sharon.  They have three children and one grandchild with one on the way.

Gail Francis

Nursery - Preschool Director

Gail serves as the Nursery Director and oversees the pre-school area of COH.  She also wears many hats serving in maintenance and assisting with Camp Joy.  She and her late husband, Jeff, served together in many capacities for many years  at HPBC, Tennessee Temple University and Camp Joy.   Gail has four grown children and  9 grandchildren with one more expected in June of 2021.  Gail went to Tennessee Temple University and Souther n Aventist College and is a sign language professor at Bryan College.

Caryl Hogsett

Finance Secretary

Caryl Hogsett serves as our Financial Secretary.  Caryl attended Tennessee Temple University and served on the mission fiield in Guatemala.  She loves children and works in the Nursery and pre-school area of COH and enjoys doing puzzles and bird watching.

Daniel Francis

Youth Leader

Daniel directs our Student Ministries for grades 7th -12th.  We use Word of Life curriculum that leads teens learn to be consistent with a daily quiet time with God.  The lessons focus on bible knowledge with practical application.  Daniel is assisted by his wife, Darci.  They both graduated from Tennessee Temple University.  Daniel and Darci homeschool their 5 children. They enjoy camping, hiking, raising a various assortment of farm animals and gardening.

Scott McCurdy

Pastor Scott McCurdy was called to serve as Church of the Highlands's Pastor in May of 2018. Prior to that, he served as Pastor of Calvary Baptist Church in Tilton, IL. Before going Illinois he served on the pastoral staff of the Highland Park Baptist Church in Chattanooga, TN from 1985 until 2004.  

The attributes that best describe Pastor Scott as a pastor are biblical expository preaching with a shepherd's heart, evangelism & discipleship and counseling. He desires to lead a church to embrace biblical truth and daily discipleship, encouraged members to care and minister to the needs of those around them and share the gospel with their community for the glory of God. Pastor Scott's life reflects his favorite verse , Matthew 6:33 "But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness and all these things shall be added unto you."

Pastor Scott graduated from Word of Life Bible Institute in 1980  with the Bible Certificate. He continued his education at Tennessee Temple University graduating with a Bachelors of Religious Education in 1984. He received two degrees from Temple Baptist Seminary: Master of Divinity in 1988 and Doctor of Ministry in 2012. He is also a certified Biblical Counselor through the American Association of Biblical Counselors.

Pastor Scott has been married for thirty two years to his wife, Susan .  Susan serves at COH as the Women & Children's Ministry Director.  They have eight children, three of whom are married. They have two granddaughters and a grandson.
