Josiah McCurdy
Assistant Pastor
Josiah serves as the assistant pastor of youth and music. He is married to Bethany and they have two children, Lauren & Louis. They have served at More Grace Baptist Church in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Josiah is the second son of Pastor Scott and Susan McCurdy. He and Bethany both graduated Pensacola Christian College. Josiah has a B.A . in Bible, a Master of Divinity and Master of Church Music Degrees. Bethany has a Bachelor of Science in Graphic Design (music minor) and Master of Fine Art in Studio Art .
Susan McCurdy
Director of Women & Children's Ministries
Susan is the wife of our Pastor. She graduated from Tennessee Temple University with a BA in Interdisciplinary Studies. She and Scott have been married for 33 years and have 8 children, three of whom are married. They have 8 grandchildren (Haley Joy in heaven). Susan and Scott homeschooled all of their 8 children through high school and still have one left! She serves as the Director of the Women's and Children's Ministries as well as managing the website and social media areas of Church of the Highlands.
Gail Francis
Nursery - Preschool Director
Gail serves as the Nursery Director and oversees the pre-school area of COH. She also wears many hats serving in maintenance and assisting with Camp Joy. She and her late husband, Jeff, served together in many capacities for many years at HPBC, Tennessee Temple University and Camp Joy. Gail has four grown children and 10 grandchildren. Gail is a graduate of Tennessee Temple University and Southern College and is a sign language professor at Bryan College.
Caryl Hogsett
Finance Secretary
Caryl Hogsett serves as our Financial Secretary. Caryl attended Tennessee Temple University and served on the mission field in Guatemala. She loves children and works in the Nursery and pre-school area of COH. Caryl enjoys doing puzzles, bird watching, and traveling.
Scott McCurdy
Pastor
Pastor Scott McCurdy was called to serve as Church of the Highlands's Pastor in May of 2018. Prior to that, he served as Pastor of Calvary Baptist Church in Tilton, IL. Before going to Illinois, he served on the pastoral staff of the Highland Park Baptist Church in Chattanooga, TN from 1985 until 2004.
The attributes that best describe Pastor Scott as a pastor are biblical expository preaching with a shepherd's heart, evangelism , discipleship and counseling. He desires to lead a church to embrace biblical truth and daily discipleship, encouraged members to care and minister to the needs of those around them and share the gospel with their community for the glory of God. Pastor Scott's life reflects his favorite verse , Matthew 6:33 "But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness and all these things shall be added unto you."
Pastor Scott graduated from Word of Life Bible Institute in 1980 with the Bible Certificate. He continued his education at Tennessee Temple University graduating with a Bachelors of Religious Education in 1984. He received two degrees from Temple Baptist Seminary: Master of Divinity in 1988 and Doctor of Ministry in 2012. He is also a certified Biblical Counselor through the American Association of Biblical Counselors.
Pastor Scott has been married for thirty three years to his wife, Susan . Susan serves at COH as the Women & Children's Ministry Director. They have eight children, three of whom are married. They have 8 grandchildren, one (Haley), is in heaven.
