About Us

The mission statement of Church of the Highlands is Reaching Our Community, America, and the World for Jesus Christ. We believe this is the Great Commission that Jesus talked about in Acts 1:8 and Matthew 28:18–20. We are a missional church—we strive to baptize and make disciples of all the nations.

Our Story

On January 20th, 2013,  Church of the Highlands held her first services.  In May of 2012  Dr. Jeremy Roberts became the Senior Pastor of Highland Park Baptist Church near downtown Chattanooga. Under his leadership the church relocated to the Camp Joy property owned by the church in Harrison, TN.    We started with 125 people in our core group who moved to the Harrison location in 2013.  Dr. Roberts resigned as pastor of the Church of the Highlands in October of 2017 and assumed the pastorate of Bushy Creek Baptist Church in SC.  Dr. Scott McCurdy was called to be the pastor of Church of the Highlands in May of 2018.

We believe God's Word changes lives, and communication of it needs to reflect the excitement within it.  When you attend you'll hear a message from God's inspired Word communicated in a creative, applicable, and relevant way. We look forward to worshipping with you at Church of the Highlands!
