Church of the Highlands in Harrison, TN, Announces New Lead Pastor.

The Board of Deacons and Pastoral Search Committee of Church of the Highlands in Harrison, TN, are pleased to announce that Dr. Scott T. McCurdy was voted in to serve as the lead pastor.

The Search Committee of Church of the Highlands has spent the last six months in this pastoral search process.  The committee received a number of resumes from candidates across the country.  However, after an on-site interview and visit with  Dr. McCurdy, the deacon board felt strongly that he was God’s man to lead the church for the future.  He was voted in by the church on May 27, 2018. at the close of the morning service with an affirmative vote of over 92 percent.

Scott received his education at Tennessee Temple University and Temple Baptist Seminary.  He earned both his Master’s degree and his Doctorate at Temple Baptist Seminary.  Prior to going to Illinois as a pastor, where he has served for fourteen years, he served at Highland Park Baptist Church in Chattanooga in a number of ministries:  director of church ministries, director of Christian education, director of the bus ministry, and ultimately assistant pastor.

Scott and his wife Susan have eight children, two of which are married, and another son who is currently pursuing a Master of Divinity degree. Scott has served capably in a variety of ministries in Baptist churches.  He loves the Lord, has a servant’s heart, and has had much experience in the ministries connected with the local church.

We look forward to his capable leadership for our church as we seek to carry out the mission of Church of the Highlands:  “To reach our community, America and the world for Jesus Christ.”
